Nature’s Metaphor
Slogging through
the muck and mud
of past mistakes
grabbing to my legs
and the rain-soaked
memories -
the weary burdens
which weigh on me,
I’m caught between
soaking downpour
and clinging of
an earthen pull.
Still I press on,
determining
neither heav’n above
nor earth beneath
worthy a foe
to keep me
from pursuing
you.
