Soft and Steady
I love to listen to the gentle rain
that falls in random tapping all around
and I am quick my eager ears to strain,
as each dripping drop fades into the ground.
I cannot see their presence in the air
though I would try their movement to discern
their evidence of life is everywhere;
in damp spots spreading without a pattern.
But though they fall invisible to see,
still I enjoy the soothing subtle sound,
it calms my soul and sets my spirit free.
And so I stand and let the rain surround.
Be still and stand within the misty grey;
join me and hear what the rain has to say.
