About Me

My name is David Hurley and I am happily married to the love of my life and high school sweetheart. We have two wonderful daughters and we are in the process of adopting our third child. We currently live in North Carolina, USA. I have always read voraciously for as long as I can remember. When I was in elementary school I would get notes on my report card that I read too much. Often times I would neglect other responsibilities in my eagerness to read. Now that’s not to say I’m not well-rounded or don’t have other interests as well but I’ve always enjoyed a good book. I find that I can immerse myself completely in the material and leave behind the world I’m living in. I’ve been blessed with the ability to read very quickly and can consume content at a fairly quick pace. All that combined to provide me with a very literary background.
I have also always loved poetry, in all its various forms and have been drawn to authors such as Frost, Dickinson, Blake, Shakespeare, Whitman, Wordsworth, Poe and many more. In August of 2011 I celebrated my 30th birthday; it was a milestone for me. For some reason something in my head clicked and I decided that instead of merely consuming all of this content I should create it as well. I’ve been writing feverishly ever since with no end in sight. I have had a desire to begin writing longer fiction pieces and eventually plan to produce a novel but unfortunately time does not permit me right now to spend that amount of focused time on just writing.
I love to explore different styles of writing and experiment with different poetic elements. I don’t claim to be a poet, nor do I claim to write amazing pieces. But I love writing; I find that I am passionate about it and take great pleasure in crafting words and phrases to make a memory or put down in words a memory captured inside my head.
I hope that as you read my work you can relate to one piece or another and it would give me great joy to think that my words helped you describe a feeling or emotion that you experienced.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my work with you!
David
